Legal Question in Military Law in Michigan

military law questions

I am suing my ex-fiance, who is actively in the Navy for IOU monies he owes me (I have receipts), which includes his signature on--name removed--lease agreement that he left me responsible for paying. He has missed an appt with the case evaluator, and I am still pursuing--name removed--court date to get back all of the IOUs and all or half of the lease agreement rate (for--name removed--year). Should I contact--name removed--military lawyer or JAG for this type of case, and what will happen to my case and him if he doesn't show up for the court date?

Re: military law questions

You need to contact the military service regarding this individual. However, there is an act, the Soldiers and Sailors Relief Act which abates a number of debts while the person is in military service. The best advice is to contact local counsel in your area who can assist you since there are multiple jurisdictions involved in this case.

Good Luck!!!
