The term "savings provision" normally refers to a situation when there is a death and the estate is started. The claimant has a bit more time to bring the case than if the injured party was still alive. This is an extremely complicated area of law in Michigan because the courts have bent over backwards to screw the patients and their families in order to favor the insurers (not to put any money back into the pockets of the policyholders either). In order to understand this, a practitioner specializing in the area must get all the facts and apply them to the recent changes. William S. Stern
