Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

Hired contractors for a job with a two year payment plan; work was com-

pleted and contract paid out; however, cannot get the contractor to re-

lease the lien from my property. can i go to small claims court for the removal of the lien; 2 year payoff was in the amount $2500.

Unfortunately, no. You will have to file a complaint in Circuit Court in the County in which the property is located to clear title. You should contact a local attorney and pay a small fee to write a letter on your behalf in an attempt to have the contractor release the lien, if that fails, you will probably have to retain the attorney to file the complaint.
