Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

Property Lines

We own 1 and a half acres and it has been in our family for 46 years the last time it was surveyed was in 1986. Well our neighbors moved here in 1994 and now here it is 2007 and they suddenly have it surveyed again and they found that our driveway, firepit and Shed are on thier property. We have had an ongoing dispute with them since they moved in, with them continually harrassing us on where our line is and they kept trying to add more each time but this last time was to an extreme they say they now own about 30 feet over now. Can the Survery Co. be wrong and if not what are our options?

Re: Property Lines

You may have a claim under something called Adverse Possession. You should contact an attorney in your area and describe the situation. You would then file a quiet title action in you County's Circuit Court.
