Quit claim deed

If I file a quit claim deed to my home would it release me from the mortgage as I am planning a divorce.

No. You will still be responsible for the mortgage. You should not sign a quit claim deed until your wife has refinanced so that the property is in her name alone.

No, you do not get released from the mortgage until the other party refinances the mortgage to only be in their name. It is not a good idea to quit claim your interest to the other party until that happens.
