Legal Question in Traffic Law in Michigan

Formal Hearing granted appealing 5 over

I am a home-owner and taxpayer in Grosse Pte Park with a clean record. I received a 5 over ticket in GPP. I requested an informal and went before a visiting judge who refused to reduce any tickets for the 3 dozen or so complainants. I requested a formal hearing to appeal and received notification of a 9/14/06 hearing. I am an independent contractor and was to start a job in MN on 9/11/06 - I postponed start until the 18th. Court has been rescheduled until the 28th. Which means I have now inconvenienced my employer twice if I need to come back to Detroit on the 28th. All I want to ask is for a reduction to impeding. Can I hire an attorney to go to court in my place? Or is there a court appointed atty in most local jurisdictions that could perhaps attempt this for me. I know that it is pretty much at the discretion of the judge and it will be an easy yes or no -- I hate to have all that time away from the office and the lost income if there is another option. Thank you for your time

A court appointed attorney is not available for a speeding ticket. However, you can hire an attorney to handle the ticket without you having to appear in court. You can call us at 248.865.9640 if you want to hire someone to handle it for you.
