Is it illegal to own a NYPD car in Mi state?

I would like to restore my 1995 Crown Victoria into a NYPD police car for car shows and personal use. I live in the state of Michigan, which NYPD cars obviously doesn't patrol. Is this illegal?

If the average person could mistake your automobile for a genuine police vehicle, you might have a problem. Using the emergency lights or siren would guarantee it.
