Legal Question in Traffic Law in Michigan

Do they have the right

Do police officers have the right to pull you over without you breaking any laws? And without just cause make you get out of your vehicle? Can they just make up some reason to get you out? Can they threaten to arrest you if you do not? This happened to me while driving a friend to his lawyers. He had just retrieved his possesions from an impounded vehicle. While at the stationd he was told another county's detective wished to speak with him. We did not have time. I was followed then pulled over by 5 police cars. I was threatened and harrased until I left my vehicle. Then the cop lied and said he smelled marajuana. I have not smoked or been near marajuana for 30 years.
