Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

family trust

How long can a family trust be undisclosed from family members? The owners of the trust are both deceased. The execquiter of the trust has not disclosed the contents of the trust to the family. What can the family members do to find out what is in the trust and why it cannot be disclosed?

Re: family trust

Get an attorney to review the terms fo the trust. There must be someone who has the authority to do so. If not, you might have to get a court order.

This is the sort of thing that can be successfully mediated, however, so to avoid dragging it out in court at great expense, contact Wayne Mediation Center (if you're nearer to Detroit), Ann Arbor, Lansing and Grand Rapids all have places you can go to mediate this sort of inter-family problem.
