Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

Does the public have access to any probate file?

If a child has a conservatory file in the probate department at a courthouse is it available for public viewing? If so, is there any way to prevent the public from looking at the file?

Probate files are public record. This would include a conservatorship file. If you require further assistance, please contact me at www.lawgreg.com.

Conservatorship files, even for minors, are a matter of public record. In order to have the file "sealed" a motion must be filed and the standard is very high. I would have to review the rules in chapter 8 of the court rules for the exact requirements. Feel free to call my office to schedule an appointment to discuss this in more detail with my associate, Karen Crusse, and the likely fee ranges if you desire. John C.
