Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota

Ever changing debt balance

I have a debt that is handled by a collection/law firm in MA. Every month I send a payment but there is no change in balance owed, at least it does not go down. It has actually increased lately. Also the original debt is less than 1/2 what the current creditor is claiming..maybe interest/fees?

I have requested a copy of original amount and payment history to creditor, all they send is a statement with current amount owed and letter says this is what I requested. When I call they are extremely rude and say that I should not be so upset as I am in this predicament by my own making!

What should I do? Are they required to give me a complete detail of payment history with them? I do not want to continue to send money when it seems to be going towards nothing. Also, is there a limit on the amount of fees they can charge?

Than you
