Re: teen carrying concealed weapon/smoking tabacco

This question is not very fact specific, but I'll try to provide some statutory citations, since that is what you appear to be asking for.

Minnesota Statutes Section 609.66 "Dangerous Weapons" could apply, if it were possessed with the purpose of being used unlawfully as a weapon against another, or, if it were on school property, etc. There may be other statutes that might apply. You have not provided enough information to determine that. If the child is charged with a delinquent act as described, you could indicate that, what the statutes charged are, and should discuss with a defense lawyer.

Minnesota Statutes Section 609.685 provides, among other things, that a person under 18 who buys or attempts to buy tobacco products with a false ID is guilty of a crime, and a person under 18 who possesses, etc., tobacco products is guilty of a civil infraction known as a "petty misdemeanor." Minnesota Statutes Section 260B.235 Subd. 4, and Section 171.171, provide for a 90 day drivers license suspension for same.
