Legal Question in DUI Law in Minnesota

I know someone who was pulled over and arrested for a DUI about two years ago. He went to court right away and there was some confusion on what his prior charges were. They said that they needed to look over the information and would schedule another court date. There has been no court date still to this date. Will this just be dropped if a certain amount of time goes by?

It is possible that it is lost and will never surface. It may pass the Statute of limitations, or a warrant may issue, or has already issued and no one is aware that the Court is looking for this individual.
