Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

10 years ago I was married in Mexico, we did not use a service or planner, but did it ourselves. We had a civil and religious ceremony both in Mexico. We did not file our certificate here in the US, or apply for anything here. We are both American born citizens. Is our marriage legal??

A marriage that is valid in any other country would be granted full faith and credit here unless it violates the laws, rendering it a null marriage. If Mexico recognizes your marriage as legal and valid, your marriage is likely considered legal in Minnesota.
