Living Arrangements

Can you live in a one bedroom apartment if you have shared custody of one child? Or do you need to have two, one for the child and one for the parent?

If you only had weekend visitation, then a one bedroom might be sufficient. However, if you want to have shared custody, it is always better for the child to have his or her own room.

There is no legal requirement that a parent have a two bedroom apartment or home if they have parenting time or custody of a child. Obviously, however, such things may be taken into consideration by a court when making parenting time or custody decisions.
