What does the phrase ''Fee simple interest'' mean?

Good question. That's a term that you might interpret as meaning "regular ownerhip." It would be as opposed to a mortgage interest that a mortgage company would have, a leasehold interest that a renter would have, a lien interest that an unpaid roofer would have, or an equitable interest that someone buying on a contract for deed would have.

To have fee ownerhsip you have to have been given a deed. A warranty deed would be the best kind, and you better make sure it's filed with the County Recorder.
