Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Minnesota

how do I handle a property line dispute with my neighbor? He has put a fence on my property, but he disagrees and thinks it is his property. I want to solve this before the time limit is up.

I would start by having your property surveyed to see who owns the property area in dispute.

A property survey would be necessary. If the fence proves to be on your land, you may:

(1) enter into an agreement to allow the fence without having it impact property rights =. that agreement maybe filed in the recorder's office where property titles are kept;

(2) require the neighbor to remove the fence or commence a legal action tio compel compliance.
