Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Minnesota

Lease Agreements

Iam a tenant who signed a one year lease. I renewed my one year lease for an additional year by changing the dates on the original lease and initailing those changes along with the landlord.

Am I still bound to the lease?

Bound by the Lease

Offer, acceptance, consideration. They're all apparently there and, yes, you do have a contract.

Now, a MN lawyer may be able to tell you how the contract might be broken.

If you have a legitimate reason for breaking the lease, have you tried talking to the landlord and asking if he would consider letting you out. He may have incentive of his own to do so.

Ver y likely you are bound.

Don't think that merely initialing an agreement means that it isn't binding. You'd most likely lose that argument in court.

There are many ways to get out of a residential lease, depending upon state law, the best of which is to find areplacement renter and ask the landlord.
