Legal Question in Family Law in Mississippi

Child Custody

My child has lived with my grandmother for four years, and I had given power of attorney for my grandmother to take care of school matters. I would like for my child to live with me now and my grandmother doesn't want to allow me to take her. What is the process for me to get my child back?

Re: Child Custody

If your court order originates in Texas, and it gives you conservatorship over the child, then the power of attorney does not change that. Revoke the power of attorney, and pick up your child. If you are bringing the child back to Texas, assume that the grandmother will bring an action to try and stop you, you may want to hire a lawyer now, rather than later.
