Legal Question in Insurance Law in Mississippi

Health insurance terminated

I have been with Associated Builders & Contractors Insurance for over five years. I began medical treatment for two different things in 1997, and will have to continue these treatments for the remainder of my life. I received a letter dated September 13, 2000, stating my health insurance would be terminated due ''to meet certain qualification criteria, one of which is to be an active ABC member. We have been advised that your chapter membership has not been renewed. As a result, your insurance coverage will be terminated effective October 31, 2000''.

I met the deadline with membership dues, and, ABC Insurance has now terminated my health insurance.

Re: Health insurance terminated

If you are still a member of the Trade Association.

then you should still be eligible for the insurance.

Immediately send the insurer proof (copies only) of

your membership documents and good standing.

If that does not work, complain to the insurance

commissioner. Also, contact a lawyer who knows

something about insurance.
