If an Attorney represented me in 1992 can he file a civil suit against me for another client or is that a conflict of interest?

Re: conflict of interest

Under the facts you described, it would be a conflict and unethical for the attorney to represent another client in a matter versus you, unless you give them tacit approval. I suggest that you do not give such approval, and that you reprot the conflict to the attorney in question ASAP. Ask them what information they have shared with the new client.

Hopefully this occurred due to an error. There are way sto minimize any further damage to you. The attorney should be embarrassed, and willing to do whatever it takes to make it right. If the attroney appears reluctant to withdraw or tell you what information they shared with the new client, you should contact the Missouri Bar.

Good Luck
