sales agreement home

i have been notified of a suit because i vacated the premises, there was a sales agreement.My position is that i am about to file bankruptcy because i have no funds to offer or assets other than furniture....what option does the plaintiff have if i have nothing to offer

I don't believe "I am about to file bankruptcy" is a defense. The seller would be able to continue with their suit and if the seller was able to prove their case, could obtain a judgment against you. With that said, if you are filing bankruptcy you should speak with your bankruptcy attorney about if this type of judgment (assuming the seller obtained a judgment against you for damages)would be discharged. And you should also ask your bankruptcy attorney how the automatic stay may impact the suit or judgment. Bankruptcy is not my area of law...
