America has no debtor's prisons, so you won't go to jail just for owing money. The credit card company can and usually will hire acollection agency to write and call you to pay. They can and often do fiel a civil suit against you. If they get a judgmet, they can garnsioh your wages and perhaps your bank accounts. On the positive side, if you are unable to pay the monthly minimum, they might restructure yrou debt, forget part of it, forestall the interest or accept alower monthly payment until you are able to pay again.

Good luck
