Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

getting sued by hospital for medical bills

I am getting sued for a large amount of money by a hospital for a medical bill that the insurance company will not pay because it wasn't submitted to them in a timely matter, the charges are from 2 years ago. I don't have proof that the hospital had the correct billing information but I do have an insurance card saying I was covered.

You need to contact the insurer and get documented proof of the facts. The insurer will provide that even if they are not your current insurer.

Then find a good lawyer to represent you in Associate Circuit Court. You'll want someone who knows a little about collection law.

Good luck

It appears that you could use an attorney to represent you in defense of the suit filed against you. If, in fact, there was insurance coverage you may still be able to resolve the matter by persuading the insurance company to pay the hospital. If you are located in the Eastern half of the state, I may be able to help you. You may call me for a free telephone consultation at 314-727-2822.
