what is the difference between stealing/shopliting as opposed to robbery 2nd

in its most basic terms shoplifting is taking something from a rack or shelf, while the culprit is entitled to be in the room. (store) Robbery is taking something that is in the possession of another, or in an area the culprit is not permitted to be in (i.e. someone elses' house).
