What do school districts feel about teachers wearing religious garb to school? This is for my school law class.

Re: Religion

Well, I can't write your paper for you, but you should probably start looking in the direction of the first amendment cases. The First Amendment guarantees freedom of religion and provides that nothing interfere with the free exercise thereof. However, when a person in authority (teacher) wears a religious symbol, there is some thought that the teacher (and thereby the state) are endorsing a particular form of religion and thereby interfering with the free exercise of other religions. You can search US Supreme Court opinions at www.findlaw.com and you will probably learn something that way. You might also want to do a google search on the issue of "free exercise" and "education" and see what you get.

Good luck.
