Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

no contact from mother for 11 years

I was divorced in 94 in Utah. my exwife received custody of our son.She remarried and moved away leaving my son with her parents. MY son lives with me and she has no contact for 11 years. I never had the custody changed. Is there any chance she could legally take him away? He is now 15. we live in Missouri. she is in Arizona.

Technically, the current order is what is in effect and subject to enforcement. Thus, if you want to prevent that from happening you need to file a motion to modify (should be able to proceed in Missouri if child has been here for more than 6 months based upon information provided), request issuance of temporary orders to prevent child being taken from you and then work towards a new judgment granting you custody of the child.

Please call my office to discuss this in greater detail. I look forward to hearing from you.
