Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

My ex husband refuses to pay his court ordered debts from our divorce. My disability income is being garnished to pay for it. Can I file the contempt of court on my own or do I have to get an attorney? I cannot afford the fees for an attorney. The lowest fee was $1500 per week until the case comes to hearing with the courts. I was told that it would take about three months so that amounts to $1500 per week for three months.

It may be that a contempt claim is best, or perhaps a subrogation claim may he quicker. Either way, it appears that you've been calling the wrong attorneys. Keep looking, you'll find one with a better fee. In the short term, you may be able to stop the garnushing of your disability funds, on your own.

Good luck
