Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Paperwork for filing a response to a summons.

I was served with summons paperwork. I need to know where, what paperwork I need to file a response with the court? ASAP.

If you were served with a Summons, it should indicate how long you have to respond, or when you need to appear in Court. If you recieved a Petition and Summons to appear in civil court, you have twenty days from the date you werre served to file your written response. Often this is an Answer, Admission or a Motion of some kind. Without more information, it is impossible to determine what "form" you need.

Even if you are filing a pleading in response, do not ignore the Court dates.

Good Luck

If you were served a summons, then you were also served either a Petition or a Motion or a Show Cause Order or some other legal pleading which requires a response. I would strongly suggest that you consult with an attorney to see whether this is someting that you should be responding to on your own, or whether you would be better off hiring legal counsel. If you choose to represent yourself, the law provides that the court will hold you to the same standards as if you were an attorney, and there are plently of opportunities to make mistakes whwich may be critical. Please do yourself a big favor and consult with an attorney.
