Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

I'm currently pregnant by my ex boyfriend. If I get married will my husband be my daughters legal father? Can I give my child my last name? I am very confused on my rights. Please help!

If you're married when you give birth, your husband is presumed to be the father. That presumption can be overturned by a paternity suit. But, not without the father claiming his rights (and obligation to pay child support.)

Good luck

If you marry before the baby is born, the law will presume him to be the legal father with all of the rights and duties that go with it, even though you know that he is not the biological father. It would take legal action to straighten things out, and it will be expensive. I'd strongly suggest that you consult with an attorney before you get married. You must hire a family law attorney. Your husband will not be the father You must file a paternjty case to establish: 1) paternity 2) child custody and 3) child support and health insurance
