Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Missouri

Deed filed with no payment to seller

We had a piece of land for sale in a town in Mo. The process was done by overnight mail. We sent the paperwork back after having all the proper forms signed and sealed. We awaited payment for a couple of weeks and then contacted the title company. Teh title company said it is the responsibility of the person who purchased the land to get a check to us. We have called him several times to no avail. The titile company was contacted again and have put us off for two weeks, saying they can't get the person to give them a check. The problem is, the title company filed and recorded the deed without the money because they said ''they trusted him for it.'' We can't get an answer from anyone. What steps do we take? We have no money and no land.
