Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Missouri

Lease house until closing

I entered into a sales contract on my house. The buyers needed to move in before closing. Since the house was empty we agreed to lease it until closing. The closing was extended once. The contract has no contingencies and was never closed. Now the buyers don't want to buy the house, want there earnest money back and refuse to pay rent or move. What are my options?

Re: Lease house until closing

An attorney would need to read the contract and any written lease between you and the people in possession of your property before giving you any advice. Generally speaking you must abide by the terms of the lease. If there is no written lease, then the tenants are month to month tenants and you can get them out of the property by following the normal legal procedures. If you are located in the Eastern half of the state and you are not already represented by legal counsel you may call me for a free telephone consultation at 314-727-2822.
