Legal Question in Traffic Law in Missouri

I live in Missouri and recieved a ticket appeared for my court date, plead guilty, was given a $700.00

fine and told to seeto the clerk for pymnt.arrangements. The clerk advised that if I did not have $100

to her within 4 hours that a warrant would be issued for my arrest. I was unable to get the money and

now I am being charged with failure to appear in court. I have never missed a court date and have been making monthly pymnts.of $100. I was needing to know if there is any laws or ordinary procedures for repayments of fines and also what constitutes faliure to appear charges.

You might search to see if a warrant was issued. If so, then continue to make yrou payments, but get yourself in front of the judge. Every jurisdiciton handles time to pay fines differently. There are nto concise clear statewide rules or laws. But, nearly every judge will respect a defendant paying as agreed and recall a warrant that was issued merely due to local custom. The new charge will likely get set over by the prosecutor (if you request it) pending your payment of the rest of your $700 fine.

Good luck
