Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Missouri

My dad pasted away in june of 2010 and my stepmom will not let me have any of his things. He did not have a will. She told me to get a lawyer if I wanted anything. I wanted to know what my options are and if the is a way to settle out of court?

It could always be settled out of court, but it doesn't sound like she wants to. The real question will be whether or not "his things" were really "his", or "theirs". That is always a tough issue. Good luck.

You need to consult wirth an attorney without delay. Depending upon exactly what your father owned in his own name at the time of his death, it may or may not be worth taking legal action to protect your inheritance. If you do not have an attorney and if you are in my geographical area, Imight be able tohelp you myself. Please feel free to call me for a free telephone consultation.
