Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Missouri

deceased annuity beneficary

My husband predeceased his aunt who died recently. She named him as beneficiary to a couple of annuities. The executor of this aunt's estated called to notify me. Now I have been sent claim forms. Do I attach a copy of my husband's death cert and name myself as beneficiary? I live in Missouri, the Aunt died in Illinois. I also have a 17 yr old daughter.

I do not believe that you can name yourself the beneficiary due to your husband's death. If you brought the paperwork in to an attorney, the attorney could contact the appropriate person and advise you as to your rights and the process for obtaining the inheritance if you are entitled to it. I would suggest that you consult with an attorney. Good luck.
