Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Missouri

My mother and I shared a mobile home together and both our names were on the title, in January 2010 my mother passed away. I was financially unable to continue so I sold the mobile home for $3500.00, moved to an apartment and had to file bankruptcy. I used the mobile home money to pay for her funeral. My father passed away over thirty-years ago, and I am the only child so at the time of her death my mother did not have a will, she had no real estate, she had a checking account with only $5.00 in it and I was not her Power of Attorney.

She did have several charge cards with large balances. I was an authorized user of the credit cards but not a co-borrower. So, shortly after her death I notified these companies of her passing with a letter and a copy of her death certificate. However, the credit card companies are now contacting me regarding my mothers estate. So, my question is; did my mother have an estate because her name was on the mobile home title along with mine? And, am I responsible for her debts?

From the info you provide, it appears that your mother did not have an estate. As to yoru other question, I do not understand how you could be an authorized user of a credit card without being a "borrower." I would have to see the credit card application, contract, terms of use, etc. before I could give you an opinion about wheter or not you can be held liable by a credit card lender.
