Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Missouri

Probate: Filing an annual settlement.

My probate attorney was murdered last year. The guy who took over the case has now dropped me. It basically boils down to money. He wants it and I don't have it. That being said, is there any law that says I cannot file the annual settlement for my mother's estate myself? If it is written in the proper format, printed on the proper paper with the correct (current) information can the court reject it? No offense to anyone here but I typically avoid attorneys because of the fees they charge. I simply can't afford it. Thanks.

Re: Probate: Filing an annual settlement.

Few, if any probate judges will accept an annual settlement from a pro se Personal Representative. However, in our case, the death of and firing from the estate attorneys might convince the judge to allow you to this once.

Good Luck
