Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Nebraska
Signatures on Legal Documents
I was wondering, if an individual holds a position that is titled ''Assistant Vice President'', and that person signs a Legal Document, such as Bankruptcy Proof of claim or a Purchase Contract, as ''Vice President'' without including ''Assistant'', is that document valid? Would it be upheld in court?

Re: Signatures on Legal Documents
All that really matters is whether the person had authority to act as the corporation's agent when he or she signed the contract. A simple mistake in title is not going to affect the validity of a proof of claim, or a contract claim, as long as the contract is otherwise valid (i.e., signed by two parties capable of contracting.)
