Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Nevada

Can't be present for 1st creditor meeting

Filed with the court on Oct 13. The first creditor meeting is on Nov 13. To be able to file a chpt 13, i had to take a job away from home. Since I just started my new job, I cannot afford to fly back for the court date. My first paycheck doesn't come until Nov 15. Is there anyway to get a continuance for ?? days so I can attend the court and afford the first trustee payment of 395.00. My wife is still back in Nevada but the court says we both must be present. If there is something I can file for this what would the name of it be and how much will it cost?

You can ask the Trustee for a "continuance" of your 341 creditor's meeting and the Trustee will usually allow you to appear on another date. The Trustee will pick the date & you will have to appear eventually. Another option would be to ask that the case be transferred to the State where you presently live, but that would a difficult & complicated process.

Good luck!
