Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

Child to be Moved Out of State

My ex is planning on moving out of Nevada with my daughter but she needs my permission to leave the state. What is the usual visitation process granted to me by the court and what are my responsibilities?

Re: Child to be Moved Out of State

I don't know that there is a "usual" solution to this visitation problem, which is all too common. I often suggest that instead of weekend visitation, that visits be arranged during school break periods. The cost of transportation to and from the vists can also be deducted in whole or in part from the child support amount required under the formula.

I also urge you to have frequent contact with your daughter by telephone, since, having been there as a child, I know how important a telephone call can be to maintain the relationship.

Remember, if you don't give permission, the Court can and will as long as there is a legitimate reason for the "ex" to be moving. It's better that you set the terms of the future visits than the Court do so.
