Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

my dad died 5 years ago I just recieved a letter from my stepmothers lawyer my dad had a pension from a place he worked before I was born until I was 13 she has petitioned the court for the entire check , am I entitled to any or all of this check?

Maybe. Much depends on how your dad filled out the beneficiary designation form for the pension -- under what the U.S. Supreme Court calls the "Plan Documents Rule." If you would like to discuss the matter, we would need to know EXACTLY what the letter you received says, and possibly do some research regarding the plan, if it is not perfectly clear. Usually, it is necessary to move very quickly in these matters, so whatever you decide to do, please do it soon.
