Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

ex-wife refuses to sign quit claim

my divorce hearing was 5/3/01 and the divorce was granted. my ex was ordered to sign a quit claim. she agreed in court but now refuses to sign. she is ignoring my attorney's mail and refuses to go to my attorney's office to sign. i have even gone to her job with the form, and she still refuses to sign. bringing her back to court would be usless as she would just tell the judge she will sign, and when she leaves the courtroom, she will refuse again. what, if any, is my next move???

Re: ex-wife refuses to sign quit claim

You can file a Motion for Order to Show cause why she shouldn't be held in contempt of court. Ask in that motion that she be required to pay your attorney;s fees for bringing it. The court could put her in jail until she signs, make her sign it right in the courtroom, or enter an order awarding you the house. If that order has a complete legal description of the property, you can file a certified copy of the order which will have the same effect as a deed signed by her.
