Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Nevada

intestate

My friend's mom died without a will. His home & mortgage are in her name, although he has paid it for 20 years (30 yr. mortgage). What happens if he just keeps making the payments without changing the title over to his name? There are no other heirs, she left no debt/assets to speak of besides the home.
