Legal Question in Consumer Law in New Hampshire

Is my car considered a lemon

I purchased a used vehicle 1 year and 4 months ago. I recently went to trade it in to find out through another dealer and car fax that it had been in an accident the year before I bought it. Now I am having a difficult time trading in my vehicle for something else. Upon calling the dealership where I purchased it I was told they did not know, I feel that I paid asking price for something that was not worth the money and now certainly isn't even worth book value. I am very upset as I mentioned to the dealer here I purchased the car I have children in my car all the time I have no idea if the airbags work etc. i still do not know the extent of amage as yet to the vehicle. I would just like to know what I can do due to the fact that my car isn't even worth the money I owe on it let alone the blue book amount. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, B. Roy

Re: Is my car considered a lemon

The NH Lemon Law only applies to purchases of new cars; accordingly, your car is not considered a lemon for law purposes. You haven't indicated the used car you purchased from a dealer has had any specific problems or was misrepresented in any way. Was the used car misrepresented to you or were there defects that would not allow you to get an inspection sticker? Did the car have a "Salvage Title" that was not disclosed? All of these factors may help you mount a claim against the dealer but you didn't buy a lemon; maybe a pig in a poke
