Didn't Pay Toll

This morning I was pulled over for not paying the toll. The officer handed me a summons to court instead of a fine. What is in store for me?Can I just plead guilty and pay without going to court??

Re: Didn't Pay Toll

Read the back of the ticket. If it has no information, call the court in which it is returnable (ie the traffic court you have to go to) or call the police headquarters of the police department the officer who issued the ticket belongs to. Of course the safest route is to hire a lawyer to defend you, but you can handle a ticket like that yourself.

If you have a relatively good driving record you can expect to go to the court and tell them why you a) paid the toll and the officer is wrong (bring any witnesses or proof with you) or b) can tell them why you didn't pay the toll point out your good record and ask for a minimum fine. Finally if your record is really bad, you could go to jail. While this is highly unlikely, the prospects increase with each prior infraction. Hence hire a lawyer to go in with you.

Good luck
