Legal Question in Banking Law in New Jersey

Last summer, my aunt added my name to her passport savings account as a joint account holder in New Jersey. At the beginning of this year, my aunt passed away. Due to the fact that I was not my aunt's closest of kin (my aunt has 7 siblings) the bank would only release half of the assets in the account to me. The bank informed me that in order to obtain the remaining assets, that i have to obtain consent by my aunt's siblings relinquishing their rights to the funds. Is this process legal, since I'm the only living joint account holder to my aunt's account?

Wonderful. Great. The bank won't talk to you, just tells you this.

Because of what the bank has done, in order to get the money, you need to hire a lawyer to get the rest of the money. It is crazy but now you have to get a lawyer to get the money that your aunt put into a joint account.

I can help you with this, just give me a call, let my secretary know when you can come see me at a time that I am free, and I will get on this for you.

I know people worry about how expensive a lawyer is, so I am careful to be as inexpensive as I can for my clients. Before you spend a dime, you will know how much this is likely to be.
