Legal Question in Technology Law in New Jersey

Unauthorized use of personal image on the internet for profit.

What legal steps can a person take when their personal image is being used by an internet company without your authorization? How the company obtained the image is unknown (it was NOT given to them), and the company is using the image to promote a pornography site. Only the face is shown, but the image is being promoted as one of the ''models'' that a potential customer of the site may interact with once they've paid a membership fee.

Also, what are the chances of obtaining damages from this company (assuming they dont' disappear overnight)?

You may have a suit for violation of your right of publicity, copyright and other causes of action. To stop them from using your picture, you would probably want to go to court to get an injunction. The first step is usually a cease and desist letter. Good luck.
