being sued what can happen

the proposal accordibng to the lawyer was written wrong it stated 12,500 at start and the rest according to progress of job with a total of 39,900 i started the job but when i asked her for more money to continue the job she said no so i stopped the job since i dont have the money to continue now im being sued for 15,000 can i fight this or is there no chance?

Usually the contract provides for when progress payments need to be made. Usually there are benchmarks, and after that point is reached then the contractor submits a release of lien and receives their next draw.
