Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

asked for proof of debt , never recieved now i have a judgement

i have a judgement from a collection agency called new century financial service, supposedly for citibank credit card. when i call citibank to find out if they sent me there they can not find me in there system by name or social security. i was only an additional card holder i believe, and the actual account holder put this card in her bankruptcy in 2000.i also get letters from pressler and pressler attorneys at law about this issue. before the phone calls finally stopped i told them to send me the copy of the credit card application for proof that i was a co-applicant or just a card holder. i find it to be strange that citibank does not have me in the computer system. any information would be greatly appreciated.

If you already have a judgment against you the time for asking for proof of the debt has passed.

Apparently, the creditor (via Pressler and Pressler) has gone through the steps to prove the debt and secure a judgment against you.

With out knowing more facts, I am assuming they are now contacting you in an attempt to collect on that judgment (ie an information subpoena).

If you wish to contest the debt, you still may be able to and you should seek the advice of legal counsel (either me or someone else).

If you would like to discuss this matter further, please feel free to contact me, [email protected] or click on my "Attorney Profile Page" for my other contact information.
