Re: credit card fraud

If you daughter was under 18 at the time the credit card was offered to her, both you and she may have the right to sue on different claims. If she was over 18 only she has a cause of action if one exists. There is some time pressure here because repudiation of the debts that were incurred prior to her 18th birthday is possible only if it is done promptly after she reaches 18.

I agree in principle that some lenders give credit irresponsibly especially to college students. They count on the parents' willingness to pay bills that the parents never would have agreed to in the first place. If you want to take a stand against that practice, I can help. Call or email. If you remind me that the contact was through Lawguru, the first consultation will be free.

Re: credit card fraud

If she was 18, your law suit will not have a chance. I suggest you get an attorney to work with the collection agency as soon as possible.

My initial consultations are always free, so call me at 732/247/3340 to discuss your case.
